HI THERE! I’M KRISTA MILLER
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
From a young age, I’ve always had a passion for art and a yearning to create. What intrigued me most was not just how fun the subject was, but how inviting the arts continue to be for all learners. The truth is, no matter what dialect you speak, you can walk into an art room and READ.
As a professional, I explore these opportunities with my students. Together we read and create visual stories, we infer and communicate emotion, and most importantly, we analyze the world around us in unique and authentic ways. By engaging in open-ended units of inquiry, students learn to trust the learning process and themselves, establishing habits that mold them into independent, daring, and creative thinkers of the 21st century.
I am a firm believer that teaching isn't something that stops when you walk out of your classroom; It's a job that stays in your mind, follows you home, and pulls at your heartstrings. Everything I do, I do for my kids, and it is part of my mission to shape each individual and help them reach their fullest potential. Because of this, I will continue to grow professionally and be an advocate for all learners and the arts.
